FAQs

  • How long after surgery can I have treatment?

We recommend waiting a minimum of 8 weeks post surgery before treatment as your scar needs to be completely healed with no scabbing or signs of infection.

  • Is it normal to have pulling/ pain/ discomfort around my scar?

While these sensations are commonly experienced with abdominal scars, they are not normal and suggest that your scar might need some release work done.

  • I want to attempt a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), should I book in for treatment?

Yes! Scar releases aim to help reconnect the abdominal muscles, improve posture and reduce scar tissue which may benefit you in subsequent pregnancies and births.

  • Is the treatment just massage?

Our treatment involves assessment and release of major structures in the abdomen that contribute to scar adhesion formation. Massage, cupping and needling techniques will be done throughout the abdominal wall, the diaphragm, the ribs and the hip flexors. The scars themselves will also receive this treatment.

We also assess other areas of the body such as the lower back and hips that may be contributing to scar discomfort.

  • Do I need to do scar work myself? Will you show me how?

At home scar massage is very beneficial in continuing to reduce symptoms associated with your scar and is highly recommended.

We will educate you on how perform scar massage yourself and provide resources to assist in your scar healing journey.
